Fellowship Women

Fellowship Women Afternoon Group participants enjoy getting together each month (6-10 of us), September through May, on the fourth Thursday (from 2-4 pm). This group first met in September 2001. One of our incentives to start a daytime group was realizing that several of us were no longer able to drive at night; you don’t need to share that trait to come to our meetings. The group is “open”; all Fellowship women are invited. We take turns hosting the group in our homes — for refreshments, conversation, and discussion. Mary Leonard has been coordinating the afternoon group. See the monthly calendar in Connections (or the online calendar) for details and locations.

Although Fellowship Women had an evening group for many years (first known as Women’s Spirituality Group), it isn’t meeting in this 2006-7 year. Quite a number of women are in Small Group Ministry groups currently; such groups give women a chance to share stories and conversations of a spiritual nature — perhaps leaving less energy for an evening women’s group. Here’s an open invitation for women to plan for, announce and hold evening meetings.

Our goals are to:

  • Create a friendly, safe, supportive, caring environment for the sharing of ideas and feelings in our meetings, retreats, socials and discussions.
  • Experience, reflect upon, and share ways of growing together.
  • Offer programs that meet our spiritual and intellectual needs, including discussions of books, articles, movies or videos that allow us to enrich our understanding of different cultures, religions, lifestyles, and our own lives.
  • Welcome ALL women from Boulder Valley and surrounding communities, of all races, ethnic groups, sexual orientations and ages

Our activities have included:

  • Spring Weekend Retreat (YMCA Center in Estes Park)
(Nadine Goranson and Susan Geohegan, May 2007 planners)
  • Salad Potluck dinner in June
  • Holiday Celebration in December
  • Red Hat Party (occasional)
