Children

Welcome! We want you and your family to be comfortable while you are with us. Visiting parents may stay in the classroom, or attend the adult service, whatever is best for you and your child(ren). Below is a bit about our program, although one of the best ways is to come and see for yourself. Our dress is casual, and we go outside and play nearly every Sunday, so don’t feel shy about wearing playclothes! Our playground is supervised from 10 – 11 a.m. (between services) so that parents can socialize during coffee hour, if you wish. This academic year, 2011/12, the Children’s Offering, collected during classes, is for Community Cycles of Boulder. Our aim is to have fun and make friends, as well as share the questions and the issues that children are wondering about.

There is a lot going on! Subscribe to the BVUUF listserv and receive the weekly “RE Happenings” emails about Sunday School topics as well as special activities for children and teens.

Themes

We choose a theme for each semester. It will be one of three, on a rotating basis.

2010/2011: UU Identity

Learning about our long tradition of reason, questioning, good works and tolerance. Just what is a Unitarian Universalist?

Spring 2012 Our Jewish and Christian Heritage

Investigating our roots in the context of Unitarian Universalism. A good time to discuss those ticklish questions that come up, often from neighbor children conversations.

Fall 2011 World Religions

Exploring Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and other faiths. Growing up UU means learning about the ways people around the world have answered the big questions about the meaning of life.

Offered every year: Our Whole Lives

It is our intention to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL) the nationally renowned program on human sexuality for 1st, 5th, and 7th grades each year.

Age Groups for Children

Both services (9:00 and 11:00 a.m.)
