Overview

6th-12th Grade Combined Religious Education at two times: 9am and 11 am Sunday mornings starting Sept. 12 2010
7th Grade Our Whole Lives (O.W.L) Tuesday evenings.
8th Grade Coming of Age, Tuesday evenings.
9th Grade Trip to Hopi and Navaho Lands, weekend classes and meetings once a month at area UU congregations.
12th Grade Bridging Ceremony, Sunday, May 22, 2011

The Programs
New Programming:

6th-12th graders can attend UU Religious Education on Sunday mornings at two times: 9am and 11am at BVUUF in the Barnum Room.
This year’s Sunday morning Jr. and Sr. High youth will be exploring the UU Identity Curriculum; through different activities the youth can gain an understanding of UU values, UU history, and UU practices while building connections with other fellowship youth.

High Schooler’s (9th-12th grade) are highly encouraged to attend the newly formed high school youth group, Friday Night UU’s, which will meet one Friday per month at BVUUF starting September 2010. This youth group will focus on developing community among the youth and wider world. Friday Night UU’s will include activities, social-action planning, movies, and lots of inspiring discussion. In addition, there are local retreats, overnights and socials, as well as the MDD Jr. High Retreat, offered during January, which many attend.

7th Grade Our Whole Lives (O.W.L) Human Sexuality Program

8th Grade Coming of Age (C.O.A.)

BVUUF offers a 20 session Coming of Age class (Tuesday evenings twice a month.) to celebrate and support our 8th graders as they mature. The class includes two retreats and 2 meetings a month on values clarification, U.U. topics, and life issues. Each participant invites an adult from BVUUF to be their mentor. The Opening Ceremony is held in September. After the two retreats, one at the beginning of the year, and one at the end, the class culminates in a Coming of Age Celebration Dinner and a Sunday Youth Service. Partipants in the Coming of Age class are invited but not required, to become Youth Members of the congregation Another path to Youth Membership is to attend the regular Orientation sessions.

9th Grade Trip to Hopi and Navaho Lands

Ninth Graders are invited to join other Front Range Ninth Graders for a bus trip to Hopi and Navaho Lands each Spring. Classes meet at various U.U. congregations from Cheyenne to Colorado Springs once a month for the nine months preceeding the trip. The 2008/09 Trip was the 45th year. The Parent/Ninth Grader Orientation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 29, at 11:15 a.m. at BVUUF.

Youth Conferences: Junior and Senior High Students often attend the Mountain Desert District Weekend Conferences for Youth 3 or 4 times per year.

12th Grade Bridging Ceremony

Graduating Seniors and their families are invited to participate in BVUUF’s “Bridging Ceremony” as they transition into young adulthood. The ceremony takes place during the Sunday service on May 22, 2011.
