This Week’s Highlights

  1. This Sunday Service: January 27th (Services at 9:00am and 11:00am)
    “Breaking the Habit of Violence”
Sarah Oglesby-Dunegan, Ministerial Intern, Worship Leader; Illya Kowalchuk,, Worship Associate
A look at how violence permeates our culture and how we can take a stand to shift the conversation and the focus, both for ourselves, children, and community. The topic was inspired by my husband’s recent decision to get rid of all of the movies we owned that perpetuated violence as entertainment and his quest to understand how we can teach our kids non-violent communication and values while living in a violent culture. This isn’t just about guns or bullying – it’s about how we respond to stress, consumerism and difference. What tools do we have to build right relationship?
Melissa Williams and the Fellowship singers will lead us in song.
  2. This Sunday’s Half Plate will benefit Alamosa Mission Trip, a BVUUF summer mission trip for students in 9th-12th grades and adults. The group will be in service of Puente, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Colorado’s San Luis Valley providing emergency shelter, food assistance, transitional housing, self-sufficiency services, homeless prevention, community outreach services, and job training for the homeless and other community members in crisis.
  3. The Meeting of the Minds and Merriment event is on February 2nd! Register in person at Unity Plaza on January 27th. For more information or to register online, please click here. Also, be on the lookout for an insert in this Sunday’s Bulletin!
