Workshop: Nonviolent (NVC/Compassionate) Communication

February 24, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Conjugating Compassion in Everyday Life,” February 24, 9 a.m. – 12 noon in the sanctuary, a workshop with Genevieve Keller, based on the work of Marshall Rosenberg and on Thich Nhat Hanh’s belief that “Compassion is a verb.”

This workshop will cover the simple yet powerful steps of Compassionate Communication, also known as Nonviolent Communication (NVC). Activities will deepen your understanding of NVC, whether you are a newcomer or already have some knowledge of this practice.

Through experiential and interactive activities, learn how you can bring more compassion into your life at home, at work, with your children, or with any community you belong to by:

–       Deeply listening to yourself and others

–       Appreciating your reactivity and what it is telling you

–       Understanding the sacred values you operate from

–       Discovering what motivates you and others

–       Allowing compassion to transform your relationships

Compassionate Communication aligns squarely with our UU principles; it can be viewed as a spiritual practice ideally suited to living these principles every day.

Register online at School of the Spirit – Adult Religious Education. Workshop cost is $30.  Childcare, sliding-scale payment, and scholarships are available, as needed. Contact Dana Samani for more information or to register by mail: nvcworkshops@bvuuf.org. Kindly put “Feb. 24 NVC workshop” in the subject line. Same-day registration is possible if space is available.
