Galen Pereira

Galen Pereira
Youth Coordinator for BVUUF/UUCB

Galen grew up in Florida, living first in Tampa and later in Clearwater. He moved out to Colorado nearly twelve years ago for the beautiful mountains, the lovely low level of humidity, and an Aikido Dojo.

He has worked with youth in a variety of capacities over the past fifteen years — from being a counselor helping youth overcome addiction and improve their lives, to teaching chess clubs at several local schools in Boulder county and Denver. He has also spent time helping children with autism through Imagine Colorado.

Galen describes himself as “a huge nerd, meaning that I’m interested in literally everything.” He has been a voracious reader from a very young age, reading anything from Walden Pond to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. He likes playing video games, cooking, baking, woodworking, blacksmithing, sewing, martial arts, acting and a number of other activities. Since he learned of the concept of being a Renaissance man, or a polymath, that’s what he wanted to be.

You can reach Galen at youthcoordinator@bvuuf.org. He looks forward to getting to know all of you and working with the youth here.
