The movie “Noah” starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson is to be released March 28. Will generations of kids now imagine Noah as Crowe, the way that Carlton Heston became Moses?  Reason #34 Why UU kids should know Bible Stories – so they can figure out the context of the movie for themselves!

9 a.m. Preschool/Nursery– “Puppets learn about Stars” With Juliette Mettes, high school staff, and Solymar Kneale, helper. “Draw Me a Star” by Eric Carle, learning about the wonder of the night sky.

9 a.m. Kindergarten – 6th Grade “Noah” –  by Jerry Pinkney.  For 40 days and 40 nights rain poured from the heavens, enveloping the world. Only Noah had been warned by God of the great floodand only Noah could save life on earth. This powerful story of salvation has fascinated people of all ages for centuries. Now, four-time Caldecott Honor-recipient Jerry Pinkney captures all the courage, drama, and beauty of this ancient parable in rich, glorious paintings.  Evan and Theresa Kneale, teachers.  Thanks to Evan for bringing the movie about Noah to my attention!

9 a.m. 7-12th grades – Attend the service or help in a younger group.

10:10 a.m. Intergen Choir Rehearsal – Melissa Williams, Choir Director

Announcements: 

Great minds needed this Sunday @12:15 p.m, Alcott Room. –  We are creating a new type of RE Program for 2014/15  to be called “SpiritJam.” It will be a part of the congregational Thematic Ministry using paid teachers.  Come brainstorm with Cindi Schwartz , Derrick Belanger and myself as we work on the proposal.  Each group and person I talk to so far have given me exciting ideas. Guaranteed done by 1:30 p.m. for SuperBowl activities!

 

Teaching Assistants and Playground Monitors are needed for the Winter and Spring. Visit the Volunteer Page for Sign Up Calendars. These are great ways to get to know our program. No preparation needed.

 

Sweet Spanish and English Valentines! Lu Wright will be in the back of the sanctuary this Sunday after services. so that families can make a Valentine’s together for Immigration detainees.
