Sunday Service: June 14, 2015

Service at 10 a.m.

“Immigration Rights: It’s Not ‘Us and ‘Them'”
Rev. Lydia Ferrante-Roseberry, preaching; Marc Killinger, Worship Associate
In October 2014, First Unitarian Society of Denver boldly welcomed Arturo Hernandez-Garcia into sanctuary after immigration services denied his stay of deportation. His stay in sanctuary highlights the many families torn apart by flawed immigration policies. At this service, we’ll learn how Arturo’s story concerns us as well. Afterward, we’ll hold an educational forum and prayer service to kick-off a national three-day fast to call for Arturo’s immediate release.

This week’s Half-Plate offering: Stand on the Side of Love this summer with the New Sanctuary Initiative at the First Unitarian Society of Denver. As an act of public witness, their congregation – with the support of a coalition of faith groups – hopes to “publicly provide hospitality and protection to a limited number of immigrant families whose legal cases clearly reveal the contradictions and moral injustice of our current immigration system.” Visit http://lynnhopkinsgroup.com/front.htm for more information. Nominated by Kathy Partridge in coordination with the Immigration Task Force.
