  • This week’s half plate offering will go to A Queer Endeavor’s Breaking the Silence project. A Queer Endeavor, housed in the CU-Boulder School of Education and led by Bethy Leonardi, PhD and Sara Staley, PhD Candidate, is an initiative focused on supporting teachers and communities around topics of gender and sexual diversity in education. The project, called “Breaking the Silence” consists of the documentary and companion materials and is intended to support teachers in creating safer spaces for gender and sexual diverse students in schools. Filmed in Boulder, CO, the documentary features the work of Boulder area youth and educators. The producers, two CU Boulder PhD students, are working to fundraise for post-production and distribution costs to get this set of materials into the hands of educators.Nominated by Katy Wiley.
