- This week’s Half-Plate offering: “Rise and Shine” is an organization in the poverty-stricken Chilimanzi region of Zimbabwe. Run by a generous and hardworking woman named Rose Madumba, “Rise and Shine” educates and supports children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. Our donations will go to pay for a new water pump and educational supplies for the school. Nominated by Janet Meyer.
