“The Call to Remember”

Memorial Day calls us to remember and honor those who have fallen in combat – yet somehow that call
too often goes ignored. What makes it hard to remember and honor the fallen? Can looking at some of the
stories of veterans who did not fall help us understand those who fell more fully and honor them more
deeply?
This week’s Half-Plate offering: Big City Mountaineers, which enhances the lives of underserved urban youth through wilderness mentoring expeditions that instill critical life skills. Nominated by David Andrews.
