Help, I need somebody. Help, not just anybody. Help, you know I need someone.

When we first arrived in Colorado 12 years ago, we were on our own, young and hopeful. We jumped into this adventure, looking for new jobs, looking for a new community. We found Denver, we found jobs, but something was lacking. We had given up on finding a spiritual community because we couldn’t find a church that allowed us to be…us. Then Linda’s sister told us that we were UUs, but we didn’t know it. And she was right.

Here comes the sun, do da do do, here comes the sun , and I say it’s alright.

We’ve made quite the journey since we came to the fellowship seven years ago. It started with paper nametags when we were visitors full of questions. We graduated to lanyard nametags as members, feeling confident we had found a spiritual home. Our most recent step in our UU journey has been magnet nametags, volunteering and pledging.

Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends; going to try with a little help from my friends.

Why do we pledge? We pledge to make a difference. We like supporting a fellowship that gives so much to us. We like supporting a fellowship that gives so much to the community. We like supporting a fellowship that has a vision of a better world.

You say you want a revolution, well, you know…we all want to change the world.

Howard Thurman said, “Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” This fellowship has helped us come alive. It provides opportunities for all of us to come alive. Imagine what we can do together!

You may say I’m a dreamer but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us and the world will live as one.
