I grew up in Minnesota in the United Church of Christ denomination. I’ve been a Unitarian Universalist for many years, participating in fellowships in many roles and committees (Religious Education, Membership, Finance). My UU home congregations are in Auburn, AL, Blacksburg, VA, and Fayetteville, AR.
I studied math at St. Olaf College, and Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan. My work experiences vary from canoe outfitting in the Boundary Waters in MN to staffing a Community Foundation in VA, teaching classes in ergonomics and safety at Auburn University to working in an auditory laboratory at Virginia Tech.
My husband Russ and I live in Louisville with our two kids, a high schooler at Centaurus and a middle schooler in Louisville. We lived in Austria for a year while Russ was on sabbatical so I’m always looking for ways to support my kids’ German learning. I enjoy reading, knitting, walking my dog and canoeing with my family.
